电表箱进水后易造成短路，进而烧毁开关等设备造成停电。倘若不明就里合上开关，还易引起人身伤亡事件。进水还会使箱内设备、电子元器件腐蚀生锈，影响后续使用。

电表箱如果进水，第一时间应该关闭电源，以防发生短路炸毁现象。关闭电源后，应准确找到漏水处，并做好封堵。在确保所有的元器件都吹干或者风干后，再通电并逐一合上各个开关进行测试，排除隐患。

除此之外，在安装电表箱的过程中应把接户线和配电线路连接成下弓子线，而且在进入电表箱的线路要有防水弯，还要形成S弯，防止水回流。
